Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia: Williamsburg Office

Since no one contacted me from my online application, I went to the office, got there at 11:40am. A sign on the door said 'Gone to lunch, back in an hour"...no specific time noted. I sat down to wait and 20 minutes later three law students came out and walked right past me. When I asked if anyone was able to help me, they stated they were going to lunch. Less than 5 minutes later, another person came out and I asked if anyone else was inside to help...she said "when my assistant comes back from lunch". really? What kind of public service is this? I was sent there at the recommendation of the Williamsburg-JCC clerk of the Courts and I will be sure to tell her how absolutely unhelpful this office was to me!

They do NOT help! What’s the purpose of allowing someone to apply. When all you get is denied an attorney due to “lack of resources” so then shut down the site, shut down the program, shut down the application process!! I’ve gone in person to a library and applied before.. I’ve applied online, I’ve applied through the phone, always denied! It’s crushing!!- however they will call you back one time or email you one time - and ramble words you can muster up yourself from knowledge or Google. Also, the intake person is sweet. However, the intake person speaks as if you’ll receive a lawyer! Words like “your lawyer will call you”

This Legal Aide society is a real JOKE! I wish I can give them minus stars. I am a senior citizen raising a grandchild; just for your info he has been an honor roll student from first grade to eighth every year. I say this because I’ve been raising him since he was two he is down 14 and his baby sister is in foster care. I have been try to get her so they can be raised together. I asked Legal Aide to help me get my granddaughter . I do qualify since I no longer make six figures. I have also asked them for assistance at least 4 other times; every time they say NO! I know for a fact I am being discriminated against. THEY ARE USELESS!!!
