Charles Black has checked out on our family. We have been waiting since March of this year for original documents that were signed with Charles Black, at his Columbia office. While we have "copies" of these Durable power of attorney documents, he has not made good on giving us the original, notarized documents. Even if they have been lost, it would be good to hear back, with honesty, and understand why he won't make us whole on services already paid for. To get the other four original documents, we had to request them he quickly "ran over" to the office and had his assistant print out copies. There was no binder or book of organized estate documents. He also requested the payment of over $3,000 PRIOR to the work being fully recorded and originals delivered to us. We now feel foolish for tr

They are not forth coming with any information. Have requested information multiple times from the executor over the estate for my grandfathers affairs and from this law office and they have done nothing but tell us they are no longer handling the estate but they still represent the executor. We were told we could reach out to this law office and get any information that we needed and we have received the absolute bare minimum. They should list helping an executor commit fraudulent activity on an estate account as specialty.

I was promised that an estate settlement wasn’t going to take long. Wrong, I did all the leg work, collecting all information for them, that’s driving back and forth to Columbia for doing all the work, and had to keep calling to get the lawyer to do his part, keep promising me he’d take care of it tomorrow, So each time I called to target him working , I was charged for the calls. Now almost 3 yrs( April) he never turned the final paper work for closing estate, I’m back to doing his work, and having to go to court. Plus paid almost $5,000.00 for him to do nothing . Paid $2,000.+ first time , then at end paid the same again So no I would not recommend them,

Charles Black was extremely helpful and knowledgeable concerning Elderlaw as my mother prepared her affairs. He was also very helpful to me when I began to handle my mother's affairs for her and following her passing.
