Upon the death of my father, we were unable to find an executed copy of his will (document was drawn up by Katherine Scott of New Point) and we emailed Katherine to inquire if she/New Point could please provide the signed doc and we followed up with two very short (literally 5-minute phone calls). Of course, it was a very emotional time full duties, but more so of grief and all of the emotions that come with losing a father/husband, and what we received from Katherine were brief, very cold and clipped responses, along with an invoice for over $150; she actually billed us for communicating to us that she had not kept an executed copy of the Will on file. Reached out to this law firm to start a dialogue and hopefully get advice on how to proceed with a real estate issue. Filled out their intake form over a week ago, and the only response we received was from someone on their staff asking for information we had already supplied in the intake form. This past week included a holiday, but if that was an issue, a simple “We’ve received your request, please allow some additional time for a response as our staff return from the holiday” would have gone very far. To me, this is poor communication and poor attention to detail, which is not what you want from a law firm. Unprofessional and Disrespectful I had a terrible experience with Catherine Scott while inquiring about a family member’s case. Not only was she unprofessional, but she was also unnecessarily sassy and condescending throughout our conversation. I expected someone handling juvenile cases to be compassionate and understanding, but instead, I was met with dismissiveness and a lack of basic courtesy. It was difficult to get clear answers, and Catherine Scott seemed more interested in cutting me off and being rude rather than providing helpful information. If you’re looking for a lawyer who actually respects you and takes your concerns seriously, I would recommend looking elsewhere.
