Edit: The case has been resolved satisfactorily and the firm reached out to make things right I appreciate their effort to resolve the issue in a reasonable way. Let me start by saying that I am a lawyer, so I have an idea how this should have gone. My husband and I had a step-parent adoption that was complicated due to cross state issues. I explained this very clearly at the beginning, but our lawyer insisted he had it handled and knew what to do. After taking several months to even get moving in the case, we finally had a hearing date (which was postponed due to Covid).
