Gem clearly knows the law well, and that’s the one positive I can offer. Unfortunately, my experience with his office was disappointing. I requested three straightforward revisions to our trust: adding an inflationary adjuster to payments, prioritizing 529 funds before trust money, and updating our guardian. These were not complex changes. I was shocked to receive an invoice for 7.7 hours totaling $3,450—and the work wasn’t even finished. I questioned the bill, assuming there had been a mistake. Instead, I was told it was accurate and to basically “take it or leave it.” I chose to leave it. This kind of work should be done far more cost-effectively. If you’re considering this firm, make sure you get a clear estimate up front before agreeing to any hourly work.
