Used Charlie Gaines for over a year to help out since Gaines, Gaines, P.C. was located in the area where I had probate/estate matters going on and I and my main lawyer were located a few hours away. In a nutshell, they get the required work done, but have terrible communication. Many times when I asked a question, I would either not get a response at all or it would be very vague and only half (if that) answer my question, so I would have to ask again weeks later to make sure they saw my question/concern, or ask for further clarification, thus costing me more money each time I had to do that. And they charge fairly high to have to deal w/ the extra stress of that too. Tried to contact Shaw Gaines numerous times after we went to court (May 2020) to settle my mothers estate. He was always oit of the office. He finally returned my call on Jan.2021 saying that somehow my paperwork was placed in my file and never got mailed to me in July. Now Im trying to get everything settled and his office is saying my case is closed. They are very rude and unprofessional. According to them everything should have been settled by August. It would have been if he had of gotten my paperwork to me or returned my many calls and emails. But coincidentally he didnt return my call until the 6 month expiration of our contract. Which leads me to believe he realized he messed up and he purposefully avoided my attempts of contacting him until it expired. I went to the office today to

My father passed away in Talladega and I needed attorney to walk me through probate as no will. At first, very responsive and somewhat helpful. It was small estate. As time drew near for estate closure, Mr. Shaw Gaines was not responsive. I reached out in May to begin final preceding and it took him over a month to get out letters, told me they were sent but the recipient didn’t receive for another 2 weeks and I didn’t receive final paperwork almost 3 months after request. Expensive compared with other attorneys and didn’t explain that additional money’s would be necessary nor helpful for this newbie to probate on all that would be helpful in administering an estate. I do not recommend.

Mr. Charlie Gaines is a wonderful person and an excellent lawyer. He is extremely knowledgeable about the law. His office staff is always friendly.

Was in communacation untill after court tried the emails on contact us the ones i used did not work. Called twice no return call just wont to know how things are going .guess next step is take my disable self to office.was good service untill now. Hope i get answers soon
