My dad has been my priority for a long time. My mom died when I was 19 and ever since I've been a bit protective of him. That being said, his grief thrust him into a position of "stasis", if you will. He never made any more plans for the future, or contingencies for if something happened (despite encouragement from my brother and myself). Well, something happened, and it was time for him to be in an assisted living facility. The facility we chose was perfect. It was 10 minutes away from my house and super clean, and the staff visibly cared immensely. Their finance team explained to me that in order for him to qualify for Medicaid (which we would eventually need as it was a tad pricey), we would need to sell my father's house, and then use all of the proceeds of the sale for his care before
