In my case, I recently purchased a home in Boston under a contract that included no mortgage contingency. I wasn’t initially concerned, as I had already been pre-approved by Bank of America—where I’ve been a client for over 25 years—at a 5.7% interest rate. However, shortly after signing the contract, my lender informed me that the property did not qualify for a government-backed loan due to certain undisclosed issues.
