I can't fully express how thankful I am for this organization. I was facing a protective order hearing that filled me with fear and anxiety. When I reached out to the Women’s Law Center for help, they got back to me the very next day. Today, I had the privilege of working with Marissa Caceres in court. She is an exceptional and hardworking attorney. As this was my first experience with a protective order hearing, she took the time to explain the entire process, met with me beforehand to go over everything, and when I was called , she presented my case clearly and confidently. Called the intake line and while I was trying to give information on my situation, the guy I spoke with (Richard, I believe) stated he'll just take my name and contact info to have somebody call me back within a week. Fast forward a few weeks later, I got an email pretty much saying there were no "attorneys who were interested in speaking with you regarding representation" because I gave "limited advice" regarding my situation. How hard was it to reach out and ask me for information to get a better understanding of my case and for clarification? Also, if I tried to provide that info when I initially called in to request possible representation but wasn't given the opportunity to do so, then why should I be penalized? I like to thank Ms. Suzanne and Ms. Elena, they are heaven sent. My complicated immigration case was difficult to explain as I suffered from covert abuse with the perpetrator claiming victim. Ms. Elena came and did her evaluation which helped me, This organization provided me 2 defense attorneys for my divorce and DV restraining order cases as well.
