State Marshal Grant Carragher

The marshal and his staff didn't check the Notice to Quit that I forgot to write the town on the address so I had to serve the Notice to Quit again. He insisted to charge me for the second delivery that didn't have to happen. In 2021, he didn't remind me that CT governor requested to put Unite CT application number on the Notice to Quit. I waited 30 days to move to the next step and just told by the court clerk that I have to redo the Notice to Quit again because there was no application number on the Notice to Quit. I don't live in CT so I rely on the marshal's professional knowledge to serve Notice to Quit. This is the second time this marshal didn't do his job right.

I can see why this guy has such awful reviews. He takes cash, provides no receipt, then can’t find your paperwork. Forgot to put something on a notice to quit and almost cost me 30 days in the process. Then when he couldn’t find my paperwork and I asked if the service was done, he told me to come get my papers, it was done just not typed up. I went to the office and he swore at me, threw my papers at me and told me to get out, that he was so busy and I’m not the only person on earth. The guy is beyond unprofessional and borders on completely incompetent. The time sensitive nature of this work does not allow for such a disorganized mess. Unfortunately he’s the only guy up here so choices are limited. Elect a better person to do this job.

Marshal Carragher has been empathetic to every situation I’ve needed him in. His staff is knowledgeable, patient and very friendly. If you need a Hartford county marshal, go see him. He’s the best!
