My mother’s estate was opened over three years ago, and in that time I have not received a single update from the firm or the executor. My attorney has reached out numerous times and was assured that the accounting would be provided in June 2024. Despite multiple follow-ups since then, there has been no response and no accounting produced. When I called directly, I was told they could not speak with me and that all communication had to go through my attorney. My husband called for clarification and was told the same. Very knowledgeable and effective planners for you if you are rich enough. Our estate was not of sufficient wealth to garner their attention. Paid thousands up front for estate planning and only got POAs. Nothing else.

Our family charged my son with planning our estate for our descendants. Smith Vavonese lost track of our trust several times over the course of the past year. After paying for the service, he received no response whatsoever to multiple communications including formal letters pleading for help. He thinks it’s because our estate is not large enough for them to care about us - I’m not sure if that’s the reason, but they did not do the work when we needed their help.

My son has worked hard over the past year to manage our estate planning for us. Overall he did well, It appears that the biggest mistake he made was using Smith Vavonese. Cost me thousands and much wasted time.

Jamie Smith helped set up a family trust for us and has always been very helpful in assisting us with any questions that arise. Highly recommend!
