I was referred to Dan Brecher at Scarinci Hollenbeck via the NYC Bar Legal Referral Service ($35 consultation). While the legal matter resulted in a recovery, my experience regarding the firm's billing practices was disappointing. Lack of Fee Transparency: At the attorney's request, I provided a simple three-page document before the $35 consultation, which he reviewed during the meeting. After signing an engagement letter for a specific task (a Repayment Agreement), I was billed a full hour ($750) for a second review of that same document. This charge was not disclosed during the consultation, nor was the work specifically requested.
