Norfolk Circuit Court Clerk's Office

I needed a certified copy of a document from six years ago. After nearly three weeks of no returned calls, no one answering calls and the submitted online form not being responded to 3x I had to take a full day off from work ( I no longer live in the area) and drive 300 miles to this court for one document. I was approximately the 30th person in line, on the 7th floor, this took over an hour and a half. I don't know if this is a normal occurrence but this place needs more help. Thankfully, a kind bailiff was working through the line helping people with easy needs or I would have been there longer.

I went in about 3pm to renew my passport. I forgot my watch was a smartwatch so had to get a locker for .25 anyway after leaving my phone and everything in the car to avoid this. The security guards were extremely friendly and helpful with the locker and told me where to go on the 7th floor. When I got up to the 7th floor, you walk through a "cafe' (vending machines) and hop in the line and wait to be called up. I had all my forms filled out already as well as a copy of my IDs, my passport photo and cash on hand to get a money order right there for the fees. The gentleman (CPW) that helped me was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Everything about this experience was above and beyond my expectations. TALKED TO A VERY NICE LADY FROM THE PASSPORT OFFICE. SHE WAS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND GAVE ME DIRECT INFORMATION PERTAINING TO HOW TO ACCUMULATE MY PASSPORT NEEDS. NO APPT WAS NECESSARY.. JUST WALK THROUGH. APPRECIATED THE DIRECT INFO FROM HER AND ESPECIALLY HER REPOR WITH ME. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. 👍🏾

I couldn't find the extact place to review the magistrate office, but I just really needed to acknowledge Magistrate McDonald. I genuinely felt heard and that my situation mattered and was being properly handled. McDonald displayed patience, knowledge and understanding, which is everything someone needs when dealing with such stressful situations. I can't thank you enough, but I hope this is a good start! Parking downtown is an absolute nightmare with all the construction but luckily the security officers on the 1st floor were very friendly and quick to point me in the right direction. I always appreciate a smiling face.
