Nm State Govt Public Defender

10-04-2024, My rate might change over the course of my involvement with the NM State Government Public Defenders Office. So far the process has been fairly easy going. I've yet to speak to a defender, and the clerk said "she will speak with me briefly before docket and briefly after. I would enjoy more than a brief consultation. But that's to consider they are appointed not hired. So far 4/5 I've nailhead contact with my defender. It was a very insightful conversation. This might be an overall.... good experience, will see

Rating 1 star for the fact their lunch ends at 1 and didn't have doors unlocked until 1:15. Must be nice getting a nice long break even after scheduled opening time. Some of us have things involving courts while these ladies are stuffing their faces passed lunch break times. Called and told the lady the door was locked. She didn't open it. Another worker returning to work let me in while tubby was eating

Scheduled appointment quickly, gave calls back as soon as soon without me having to call again. The supervisor explained everything in depth until I did understand fully without any more questions to ask.

After asking for a contracted lawyers address left me sitting in the waiting room for over 1hour 30 minutes. Never checked on me or even offered me water other than a water fountain that sorta worked. Rude, unprofessional , and non informative. Had to find the address on my own. Not even updated on Facebook.

I feel like they do not care for black people they treat you like you are about to steal something and they all ask you one by one if you need help. I dislike the place they are bougie and white for me
