Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem

Went to them in 2016 regarding citizenship. I needed help because I had previously been arrested. The woman who helped me named Jen was racist and didn’t take my case seriously because I’m Bangladeshi and Muslim which to this woman meant I didn’t need help. She made racist comments and then refused to help me with my husbands visa coming to the US at the time when the Muslim ban was implemented. Her response was he’ll be fine. He was not fine and was not alllowed into the US. But this organization didn’t care bc they only care to help Latinos and maybe black ppl. If you are Muslim and brown dont go here they don’t want to help you.

A lady from NDS called and was very short with me. She said they couldn't help me and kept saying " this is done by design". What does that even mean ???? She didn't give a reason as to why. This lady was very rude and acted as if she was fustrated with me. I only reached out to this organization twice. My first time reaching out was two weeks ago and I am being treated like garbage. Terrible organization

Engaged with for advice and was given incomplete information and despite assurances from Alodie my notes were not passed on to my night court atty. I’ve sent Alodie several messages sharing my disappointment and have not gotten the courtesy of a reply. Look elsewhere.

Best Lawyer(s) I ever had in my life. The attorneys and social workers here genuinely care about their clients, I can say for sure they genuinely advocate for the well-being of children. I don't know if I should say my Lawyer's name but listen If you're looking for fair and proper representation, people who really work hard for a good cause, then look no further. The lawyer from NDS Lisa Friedman, did not help my husband. Instead she convinced him to plead guilty to 5 years imprisonment. On top of this, she refused to give him his file and records and any suppirting evidence. There is a video and she refuses to give it to him. I believe they tampered with the video and this is why not is concealed.
