I recently supported my friend through her divorce and observed her attorney work hard, play offense and win. In comparison, I reflect upon my experiences with Miller Legal Services and realize that my case and was mismanaged on multiple levels. The biggest failure was lack of preparation, and frankly, effort. Barb did not follow up on will critical items and kept forgetting important details about my case. I was not honestly advised on chances of success for different approaches to my case. In the end, time and money was wasted on strategies that had no chance of success while other approaches that could have resulted in a much better outcome were never explored. Over the course of several years Attorney Barb Miller and Paralegal Jennifer Tometich worked hard to help me transfer my out of state custody and placement orders, successfully challenge those orders for a more just situation reflecting WI state laws, and defend my rights multiple times as I attempted to co-parent with a high conflict person. To be clear, I went from having my child once every 2 weeks to 50/50 placement and later 100% placement. Barb and her receptionist, Jennifer, are very friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. They made what was a stressful, scary situation, that I had zero idea how to navigate, as easy as possible for me. They are VERY prompt with getting things drafted, sent to court, replying back to me, answering questions, etc. I appreciate the fact that Barb was available to see me, often the same day I called, because I know some lawyers wait weeks to schedule time with their clients. I was guided to Barb from a member of my family. I would highly recommend Miller Legal for your legal needs. I made my appt and met with Barb and discussed the case that was laid at my feet by the county. Long story short, I found out the hard way that you cannot get into a loud verbal argument with your children in Wisconsin. at least not with the possibility of being charged with DOMESTIC DISORDERLY CONDUCT. after barb reviewed my files and case, she assured me that she firmly believed that i would walk away with at most a small fine. turns out she was a little off, the county dropped the charges all together!!!!
