She was appointed the GAL over my sons custody/visitation case. She was terrible! She didn't speak to teachers or the counselor or family members. She wasted a lot of time, cancelled a lot of appointments and minimally did the job she was paid to do literally right before court. She went against the counselor's notes and recommendations, without even a conversation. She was completely biased. My son tried to have her removed from the case and ultimately had to pay more money for a real attorney.

Sonya was the court appointed attorney on my grandparents visitation case involving my child! I would highly recommend requesting someone different if she appointed to your case! She is the biggest joke I’ve ever met! The lady took my case so serious that she had her shoes off in the court room sitting with her legs in the chair! She had no problem recommending my daughter have visitation in a house that was openly admitted during court to drug use being done in! And I’m not talking about marijuana! She stated she feels it’s safe because the drugs are being done behind a locked door that my daughter doesn’t have access to inside the house! She had no problem requesting drug test from my household which wasn’t an issue with us but said it wasn’t necessary for the people in her grandmother

This Attorney does not do what’s in the best interests of the child and she only hears what she wants to hear she doesn’t want to hear the actual facts!!! She tried to get my daughter taken from me even though I was considered fit in the judges eyes, also I had custody of my youngest son so sorry to say but I would not recommend this attorney to anyone!!! She doesn’t listen to the child. She talked to my daughter once for 15 mins then decided to ignore a lot of facts about the case. Do Not Recommend.

I was recommended Sonya Marshall by a judge. She basically took my money and ran. My case involves divorce and custody and in the time she was my lawyer, she cost me visitation over and over by not filing contempt paperwork when my wife broke court orders. Never answered or returned my calls. It would take her literal weeks to respond to emails. Even now she is no longer my attorney. I emailed her over a week ago regarding getting my file for my new lawyer. She just now responded to me 8 days later and told me my file would be ready another 8 days from now. She has impacted my case negatively time and time again and even now after no longer being my attorney still managed to do so. If your in a bad way and need an attorneys help, don't turn to this woman. She doesn't care and she will take

She was the GAL for my daughter for a year and met with her for a total of less than five hours. Never spoke to the maternal side and involved people who had only known her for a few months max. She changed things in her report that my daughter said and didn't listen to her. Because of her recommendation my daughter almost died jumping out of her step-mother's car to avoid going to her visit with her father. She was terrible with responding and did not listen.
