I paid Elizabeth A. Close a $400 fee for a one-hour legal consultation expecting competent review and analysis of my family law situation. Unfortunately, the consultation did not meet even the basic standards of a legal consultation. Prior to the meeting, I sent documents for review and also brought them with me in person, including a PFA order and what I was told was a divorce complaint. Ms. Close did not meaningfully review any of these documents during the consultation. She did not identify that the “divorce complaint” was not a valid or pending divorce filing, nor did she advise me that no divorce action was active at the time.
