Bad experience - they are only after your money. I've asked them to notify me before any billings or going into work. They started billing me $350 to just to respond to an email about whether or not they could help with a potential task. Spent over 40k with them, refused to waive a $350 charge. Will not be working with them again.

I can only speak for Burton Mitchell, as I have not utilized the firm for other matters. Having gone through a few estate firms, Mr. Mitchell is the foremost expert and legal scholar in estate planning in So Calif. A prior firm not to be mentioned interviewed for a full page spread in the NYTs botched so much. Fame doesn’t equal knowledge. I switched and am forever grateful. Knowing Mr Mitchell’s character, he would NOT associate with other attorneys unless they are of similar aptitude. Legal matters, always tortuous. Judges or jurors decide whimsically especially in California. Any disgruntled matter should be directed to the TRIAR OF FACT, not councils regardless of firm, that has to deal with oftentimes a disinterested jury pool. Probably the worst encounter I’ve ever had with a business over the phone. I called to ask about some securities tax related to a company valuation. I got transferred to a man (don’t remember his name). I started explaining the situation and he goes “how much do you think this company owes you?” I was confused because that wasn’t applicable to my case, he didn’t even understand or let me finish. I tried to explain the situation further and he basically yelled saying “STOP STOP STOP, STOP TALKING! That’s not what I asked. How much do you think they should pay you?” He basically wanted me to say something that doesn’t apply to me and even when I gave a number he was so rude and just ended the conversation.

I hired Anthony Brown aka Tony Brown from Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP (JMBM). Anthony was retained specifically per the agreement to represent my deceased brother In the filing and abatement of an open appeal & restitution so that properties held by the court could be returned to Eric's estate. None of these services were rendered, nothing was filed, and Anthony burned through the entire $10,000 retainer doing research and learning how to do abatement appeals.
