It's been nearly a decade since I retained this poor excuse for a lawyer and I think about it almost every day because he caused me and my family so much turmoil. On Oct. 17, 2017, he did not show up for me in court. Commence the hours of trying to get a hold of his office, only to find out he is on his honeymoon. You would think he would let me know he wasn't even going to be able to show up for my case? During these hours of calling, my grandfather was suffering. He took his last breath while my mom was on the phone with his office trying to get this sorted out. This last moments with him should've been precious. Gilligan, I will never, ever forgive you for that. Never. Know that what you did that day went far beyond just hurting me and the case. When he finally got back from his honeym

He did okay as my attorney, the reason for the 1 star review is because immediately after my last court date he disappeared. He wouldn’t answer a single phone call. He wouldn’t answer a single email and I’ve wrote dozens now over a span of a couple years. I don’t like writing bad reviews, but I’ve tried everything even waiting to see if I can catch him going into the office because he has quite a large amount of my money still left over from Not being used for the trial. I guess he decided to let a single mother suffer and take it for himself.

My husband and I were going to retain him today (02/14/24). 10 seconds into me trying to give a brief summary of our legal situation, and try to set up an appointment for consultation, he cut me off and said "I don't really care." OK. We will take our $$$ elsewhere. It was extremely unprofessional. Don't bother with this guy. There are plenty of lawyers here in Waynesville who will treat potential clients with respect. Edited for response: It was NOT ""during" open court. It was at recess. We were TOLD to be there today and that his case was continued to today. That's not our fault that we did what we were told by officials. We did not drive almost an hour from another county and sit in a courtroom for almost 3 hours if we didn't think we needed to be there. Yes, my husband was indigent

My experience with Robert Gilligan was absolutely perfect. Even though most times the reason you need to contact an attorney may not be the best situation, every interaction with Mr. Gilligan was great. He walked me through the entire court case step by step and really put me at ease. The courtroom is such an unfamiliar place that many people get very anxious. He talked with me about the case and the potential outcomes. Great lawyer. Thanks!

Mr. Gilligan was so very helpful. He made me feel as though he was always in my corner. When i had questions he was always prompt with a return call. Great guy!!!!
