Eugene R. Dougherty

Nice man, I met him for an initial consult back in 2021 and paid $500 for a review of my case. He was present with his wife, I decided to not move forward with him because at the time during our meeting it seemed like he was quite forgetful and I didn't feel comfortable moving forward in filing a case with him. His wife actually was present and answered a lot of the questions so I'm not sure what was going on memory wise. They were both pleasant people and did give me some helpful advice that helped me on next steps so I didn't feel like it was a waste of money. I was just concerned about hiring them for a long case where they needed to keep a lot of details in order in a more or less friendly divorce.

He was my lawyer for two months representing me for child custody and partition of the house. In all the court appearances, Eugene seemed to be without preparation and had difficulties remembering what happened in my case. When the judge asked him a question, he normally couldn't answer or just said my client wanted it without giving any basis or reason, which made judge pretty angry, asking him why? And he couldn't answer. Many times, I had to plea him please say something for me in front of judge. He damaged my case, when I expressed my concerns to him during the process, he seemed to be defensive and had no clue. I fired him after two months.

Eugene did a great job with my divorce. He was very responsive and helped me through some difficult aspects of my agreement. He was very helpful and was always available. They made a very difficult time in my life a little easier.

Eugene provided me with sound advice and walked me through the divorce process at a time where i was emotionally and mentally drained. He kept me from falling into the pitfalls and provided me with continuous help with the many follow-up questions I had. He encouraged me to look ahead and that the divorce was a temporary set back and he was right. 5 years later I am doing great and I still thank Gene for getting me through the divorce. I would definitely recommend Gene to anyone who needs a lawyer who knows what they are doing and cares about his clients.
