Hired Barry Efron for a flakey speeding ticket. Communications were minimal. 2 1/2 weeks after my court date I get a 'failure to appear' notice with the threat of drivers license revocation and Jail. Went to the precinct court house to straighten things out and face the judge. All of a sudden, an email pops up stating he's my representation (4 weeks after I hired him), which barred me from doing anything on my own other than plead guilty or no contest and pay the fine, which I ended up having to do. Tried to contact him to remove himself from the case, but he never responded. Failure to appear is a valid ethics complaint against an attorney, which I may end up having to take. In fall 2024, Barry Efron advised us that a quiet title action was not necessary for a property we purchased at a deed auction. We later learned that this advice was incorrect and that a quiet title filing was required. We returned to Mr. Efron in April 2025 and paid his fees to handle the quiet title case. From April through August 2025, we made numerous documented attempts to obtain a status update via phone and email, but received no response. In August 2025, Mr. Efron acknowledged that the quiet title had not been filed and subsequently filed it on August 27, approximately four months after payment was made.
